You only said, "Have you tried." That didn't sound definitive, to me. Unless I have done it, I can only support what I "think" will work. Now, I'll just drag the ones not in my Februbackup image. I have the old bookmarks on my bookmarks bar and the "Bookmarks Bar (File)" after I imported - as I suspected. I pulled an old backup that I could compare with the current one. The only question is whether the user wants instead to merge the original into the current bookmarks file (which this technique doesn't do - it only replaces the current "bookmarks" file in the profile folder with the copied-in bookmarks file). It assumes only that the bookmarks file being copied in isn't corrupted. it's the 'restore' part of the standard way users back up (copy out) and later restore their bookmarks file in their profile folder.

Your results may vary.Ī Former User last edited said in How to make a html-file for bookmarks from original The technique does work. The dragging to where I want took me about 10 minutes. Depending on the number of bookmarks you export, it may take a little time. This all may sound complicated, but it's not, actually. You will have to move them from the folder to the bookmarks bar if you don't want to open this "Master bookmark" each time you want one of them. Opera should add this folder "Bookmarks Bar (File)" This will have all the bookmarks you exported. You'll import from the file in your personal directory. If so, import the bookmarks you exported. Launch Opera and see if your old bookmarks are there. Drop the old bookmark file - without an extension as Opera has it. I would do as you suggest, rename the bookmark file with a ".ref" extension.

Now, you have your original bookmarks that can be imported back into Opera. Before you do ANYTHING, I suggest exporting the current bookmarks to an html file file in a personal directory. I don't want to make dummy bookmarks to check it out, but, let's say it is that simple. If you want to preserve the current bookmarks file for later reuse, rename it to something like bookmarks.ref before copying in the other one. You can't use this method to merge bookmark files, only to replace the current one. And you can always backup (&9668 to the htm. I just open my Favs.htm that’s on my desktop. My browser bookmarks are now for temporary/scratch usage only. Have you tried simply copying that original bookmark file into Opera's profile folder (Opera > About > note the Profile's path) to replace the one that is currently there? Note: The copying should be done with Opera turned off. You can build an Excel file with hyperlinks and save it as a htm.
